I've been in the marketing and advertising business for decades and when I was young, I was eager to work on the big brands and the exciting products. I have had my opportunity to brand and market everything from wine and spirits to German luxury cars, but my favorite work I ever created was for Mary Cariola, a local center for people with complex disabilities. The temptation is to look at the individuals there and only see what they don't have. I saw the opposite—that they have something so many of us have lost...the ability to find joy in every person and every situation.
